Food Service & Hospitality

Personal Finance & Resource Management

Personal Finance introduces students to personal literacy and how they can start now to become smart spenders and be that much more prepared for the financial aspect of adulthood.  Students are exposed to terms such as insurance, risk, decision making, impulse buying, credit, time management etc.

Real life simulations may also be included in this course.

This module is broken into two units.  You may find the rubrics below.

This module is designed to teach basic food safety and sanitation, culinary techniques, and skills needed in the food service and hospitality industry.  Emphasis is on safety and sanitation, culinary techniques and hospitality.

​

Students will participate in more in-depth food labs and learn different kitchen techniques.  

​

Table settings, table manners, and basic etiquette will also be covered.

​

Apparel

Interior Design

This module is designed to teach basic skills and techniques needed in apparel, including hand and machine sewing.  Emphasis is on clothing choice, the elements of design, and basic construction techniques.

​

Students will be responsible for basic materials for a sewing project.  Shorts/pants are a popular item and will require only 2 yards of fabric of the students choosing.  If fabric is hard to find, a twin top sheet is an excellent option!

​

Notions will be provided to the students for completion of this project including all sewing materials, cutting, measuring and marking materials as well as elastic and thread!

​

​

This module is designed to teach basic skills and techniques needed in Interior Design.  Emphasis is on the principles of design, sustainable design and management of living space.

​

Students will create their own living space using computer-aided design software (or CAD) and using the principles of design to add additional items to their floor plan.
